Smethurst
Ministries Inc operates its ministry in many places in the
USA in conducting seminars in churches of many denominations,
business corporations and community groups.
This is an interdenominational ministry
and has a multipurpose in helping Christians to be more vibrant
witnesses for Christ. We also minister into areas of need
with seminars such as: "Healing
the Home" (building bridges to effect healing in the family
and also to bring unbelieving relatives to Jesus); "Marriage
at its Best" and .."Winning over Stress at Work and
at Home" - these series have seen many needy families
come to Christ and into the local church. Outreaches and
crusades have been conducted through local churches, using
these themes to genuinely reach needy community groups. These
have proved to be immensely successful and fruitful.

These
seminars have been conducted:
A. In Churches of all denominations
and sizes, equipping the believers to be better and
brighter witnesses for Jesus where they live, work, study,
play sport and mix closely with needy people. These seminars
usually start on Sunday mornings with the church
services and move into stimulating seminars on how
to share the Gospel with courtesy and respect with family, friends and
colleagues. These areas are normally the weakest
areas of a Christian's witness. This seminar series
is called "Equipped to Go….into
the Harvest".
This has proved, by God's grace, to be hugely
successful in bring many hundreds to Jesus and into
the local church. Many unchurched people come into
these seminars, normally invited by concerned family
and friends, and are deeply touched by the teaching
and the presence of the Lord. Many have given their
lives to Christ as a result.
In much demand is the series on Prophetic
Evangelism - how to use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in winning
the lost to Christ, such as gifts of prophecy,
words of knowledge, words of wisdom, gifts of healings
and the working of miracles to the unsaved. The
world we live in is full of cynics and skeptics
who are tired of just hearing words and more words.
They want to see the power in action that we say
we have in us, from the Holy Spirit. It's time
we delivered that power to them. It's amazing how
willing the Holy Spirit is to minister His gifts
to needy non-believers and touch and heal them.
It never ceases to amaze me how non-believers,
in many instances, get healed quicker than believers.
I've seen whole families come to Christ as a result of a needy family
member being healed.
It's very exciting to know how to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's prompting
to minister in the Gifts of the Spirit to strangers we meet along life's
way. I've seen many strangers on airplanes, trains and busses come to
Jesus when I've given them a word of prophecy or a word of knowledge
relating to a personal or family issue, that could not have been known
outside their personal sphere. Many have realized that this was God and
have given their hearts to the Lord.
The seminars "Prophetic

the Holy Spirit" normally take this

- Getting to know the Holy
Spirit and how to be sensitive and
obedient to His moving and prompting
- The Gifts of the Holy Spirit - using them to win the
lost
we live in a world of very cynical and skeptical people
who are tired of just hearing words and poor excuses - the power of God
through the Gifts arrests them very convincingly for Christ.
- Winning your family & friends with the Gifts.
(Words of Knowledge, Gifts of Prophecy & Words of Wisdom to arrest the
unsaved around us - sharing Christ effectively with our family and friends
is one of the weakest areas of our witness. It's shouldn't be. Those close
to us can be won very easily if we do it right.
- Using the Gifts to bring Healing & Miracles to
the Unsaved (this is amazing as God seems to heal the unsaved
quicker than the believers)
B. Further
seminars we conduct, in many needy areas, deal
with hurting homes, broken marriages and problem teenagers
and children. These seminars and counseling activities are
conducted in conjunction with local community groups, churches,
youth centers and business groups who are concerned with
the well being of their communities. The cost of attending
these seminars is free as many of the families and individuals
are in dire financial straits and could not afford the costs.
Counselling is conducted by David and Margurita Smethurst
and others who are ordained ministers and qualified counsellors.
In addition counselling is conducted for people struggling
with addictions to alcohol, drugs and other related problems.
Teenagers are counselled at their or their parents request.
Many times counselling takes place after seminars conducted
at schools and colleges.
Counselling materials, in the form of books, tapes and
videos, are given away to many needy individuals and hurting
families for ongoing support and encouragement. Those being
counselled are referred to local church leaders and qualified
counsellors for ongoing work in their lives and families.
It's been very rewarding to see individuals and families
rise up out of dire circumstances and despair to take advantage
of the help and apply what they have learned. Many have
risen in dignity to become very useful members of society.
It is been tremendous to see broken pieces of shattered
lives and families put back together again. They are normally
a great object lesson to others in the same context of
need, and have been used to help others around them. Over
32 years of operation we have seen many genuinely helped
and restored.
