This
area of Europe has seen so much devastation recently ~ they
are broken nations with broken people.
The Moslem Kosovans,
until recently, have been isolated from the rest of the world
and the Gospel. As a result of the war there, they are now
so in need of help and so open to receive the Gospel.
In
Belgrade, Serbia, after a mercy mission in March 2000, we
undertook to provide for a refugee centre of 500 people who
were bombed out of their homes during the recent Kosovo war.
Our charity has helps support these poor people many of whom
are children who are sick through the distribution of relief
supplies, medicines and Bibles. In addition we support four
communities from local churches who are trying to care for
scores of homeless families by feeding and accommodating
them.
A further mercy mission in August 2001opened more doors
to minister the Gospel to these needy people. So many more
came to Christ so easily. It was precious to hear them say
that our presence there showed them that God noticed them
and really cared for them. It's amazing that when one brings
aid that meets their physical needs, the needy folk receive
Christ more readily. I guess it's an issue of trust - and
that grows with each visit. We here to help over a long term
- at least until they can fend for themselves. We were able,
with friends' help, to
supply funds for a VCR machine and TV for the showing of
teaching videos. They have recently begun an Alpha Course
in Serbia using videos. God's Kingdom is growing!
In that
context we have conducted seminars on how to start and
operate a small business from home, using personal local
resources, manufacturing the goods economically and marketing
the products smartly to others who need them. This was eagerly
accepted and some are implementing the principles and showing
others how to succeed. |
