Chernobyl orphans camp

Again for the sixth year in a row we have been able to bus some 200 needy children from southern Belarus to the Camp Site in Dobelnieki for two camps that helped these needy children come to Jesus. Each child was counselled and cared for by the Russian Church youth group and they were prayed for regarding a huge variety of needs. Again so many healings took place. Remember that many of these children have been affected by the radiation in the area they come from. Medical treatment was on hand where children needed it.

They were taken on excursions each day to places like the beach and the zoo - they had never seen a beach and animals close up. Each child received a Bible and an educational toy which they so appreciated.

The mission in Latvia was great overall. We had very intense ministry in the orphanages, prisons, camps and churches. It involved a lot of planning, preparation, talking with the pastors and leaders, planning the right interpreters and drivers, negotiating times and venues, choosing the right vehicles for each small team, traveling to some far distant locations, planning the speakers and messages for the meeting, then engaging in the actual ministry and immediate follow up activities.

Also there is also the need now to provide a large number of Bibles for the new people who have come to the Lord in the prisons, youth camps and the meetings in the needy churches. The orphanages present a challenge with the physical needs of the children that we'll try to meet now or in the near future - heating, warm clothing and medicines for the winter. We also need to help the older orphans finish their work related courses before they leave the orphanage.

These Eastern European people are still hungry for the Word of God and that makes it easy to minister here. The responses to the ministry of the word have been marvellous, especially among the young people.
